Story

Sixteenth-century England. To free the people ruled by the Demon Lord Elias, master of the Ethereal Castle, the kingdom and the church have sent expedition after expedition against him, and every one has been defeated.

When another chance arrives, fate brings two men together: Leonard Brandon, a young warrior of the church’s Black Wolf Order, and Alexander Kyteler, the last survivor of the kingdom’s White Stag Knights. They fight for different reasons, but they share one purpose: to destroy Elias.

Elias is protected by six Demon Dukes, powerful vampires each with their own abilities. To reach the Demon Lord, Leo and Alex must defeat these guardians one by one.

The Ethereal Castle is the biggest map in the series: majestic gothic halls, caverns drowned in darkness, and traps of every kind, like thorns hidden among roses. Morning, noon, dusk and night pass inside the game, and the changing light transforms not only how the castle plays, but how you relate to its world.

Exploration is the heart of Bloodstained. Search every corner to find powerful gear and items, gather materials to craft equipment, and outfit both Leo and Alex freely. Weapons, armor and accessories all change how the heroes look.

Two heroes, one fight

The enemies lurking in the Ethereal Castle cannot be beaten alone. You switch freely between Leo and Alex: one hero under your direct control, the other fighting alongside you automatically, and a single button swaps them instantly. This Buddy System is the foundation of The Scarlet Engagement, and mastering their teamwork is the key to overcoming what lies ahead.

TGS 2026 gameplay trailer

On September 17, 2026, a new gameplay trailer premiered during the Xbox showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2026. It shows locations and enemies seen for the first time, including a snowbound fortress, a tower of turning gears and a battle on the back of a wyvern, along with Leo and Alex fighting as a pair.
