Originality
We start from play we truly find fun. Instead of chasing trends, we refine a feel of our own and make it the identity of the work.
Purpose
A game studio led by Koji Igarashi (IGA).
We make exploration-driven action games, starting with the Bloodstained series.
Vision
Mission
We craft play we truly believe in, refining it with creativity and craft, and bringing it to players worldwide
Our name
The name ArtPlay carries one intent: to create (Art) joy (Play). Beyond the fun of playing, we want to bring joy that stays with you!
Values
We start from play we truly find fun. Instead of chasing trends, we refine a feel of our own and make it the identity of the work.
We keep the core of the craft in our own hands and stay with it to the final polish. Careful work, answered with completeness.
We make for players everywhere: experiences that cross language and culture, designed with the world in mind from day one.
We respect each person’s creativity and speak across roles and titles. With partners around the world, we polish the work eye to eye.
Message
For most of my career I have made exploration-driven action games: games where players find their own path and discover they can do what they could not do before. That joy is what I have always tried to create.
You do not have to be good at action games. If you keep going, you can reach the end. I have always cared about that kind of playability, because I want as many people as possible to find their way, grow a little stronger, and see the story through to its final scene.
ArtPlay is not a large company. That is exactly why every individual’s opinion reaches the game. We keep the core of design, art and technology in our own hands, and refine each title together with our partners as equals. That is how we make games.
Some of the 2D action know-how we have built up over the years has become rare. But preserving it is not enough. It only has value when it is combined with new technology and evolved into the next kind of play.
What matters most to us is that we ourselves find it genuinely fun. From there, we listen to fans around the world and try to deliver the surprise that lies beyond their expectations.
If it makes the game better, anyone here can speak up, regardless of role or position. With creators like that, we will keep taking on the world with what we do best.

How we work
Put each person’s own play into the work.
Never stop at the spec. Propose what would make the game more fun.
We hold the core ourselves.
Design, art and technology stay at the center of our own team, with responsibility to the very end.
Make the game better, whatever your role.
Speak frankly beyond title or specialty, and connect each other’s domains.
Keep answering the promise to our fans.
Listen closely, then shape the surprise that lies beyond what they expect.
Partners
Publishers and developers around the world we have made games and crossovers with.
