Ahead of the July 10 launch of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2, Famitsu.com and GAME Watch published developer interviews with ArtPlay’s Koji Igarashi and, from developer Inti Creates, producer Takuya Aizu and director Hiroki Miyazawa.
They cover how the sequel was decided after the first game shipped, making the most of a limited development window, the design of the new characters Dominique, Robert and Hachi, a much stronger Zangetsu, local two-player play and the new idea of “two-player speedruns,” and how the graphics keep to 8-bit hardware rules while widening the background palette.
