Lead Game Programmer

Build the core of the game in C++ and Unreal Engine while leading the programming team’s progress and implementation.

Role

You will program core gameplay yourself while managing the progress and implementation of other programmers. The work is mainly C++ in Visual Studio, and proposing ideas that make the game more fun is an important part of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement players, enemies, gimmicks and other in-game elements
  • Implement the systems that drive game flow (stage progression, event management)
  • Extend and optimize Unreal Engine
  • Manage memory, CPU and GPU budgets and write the rules for them
  • Build systems and tools that make the team more efficient
  • Assess feasibility and effort of design proposals and suggest improvements
  • Grow the team’s technical skills and share know-how

Required experience

  • 3+ years of console game development experience
  • 3+ years of game programming in C++
  • Experience leading staff or managing production

Preferred experience

  • Development experience with Unreal Engine 4/5
  • A track record of proposing your own ideas and driving them through in code

Full-time or contract (contract hires are made with conversion to full-time in mind). 3-month probation.
Location
Kanda Center Building 5F, 2-3-2 Kajicho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo (about 3 min from JR Kanda Station)
Hours
10:00–19:00 (8 working hours, flextime available)
Holidays
Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, year-end and New Year, paid annual leave, summer leave, celebration and condolence leave

Salary
